Catching Galjoen in Struisbaai

For those that did not know, the Galjoen is South Africa's national fish.

Galjoen season opened last Friday, 1 March 2013, so now is the perfect time to get out there and try your luck at catching one. And keep in mind we're running that awesome "Submit Your Catch" competition this month!

Galjoen can get up to 6kg which makes it great fun to catch on light tackle. They usually feed on worms, crabs, red bait, mussels and prawns.

The Galjoen in the video was caught on wonder worm and turned out to be quite a fighter despite his size! Also in the video are a few photos of some big Galjoen caught by two of my friends Carel Cloete and Barney Bolton.
